Celebrated gospel minister Evelyne Wanjiru and her husband Agundabweni Akweyu are expecting their first child after 10 years of prayer and waiting.
Wanjiru took it to social media to announce the good news, thanking God for honouring His promise of giving them a child and her husband for his unmatched support.
“Today my heart is full of Joy and gratitude. As I write this, my eyes are full of tears. I have been waiting for this season for 10 years in my marriage. A blessed womb, God has fulfilled. His promise in our lives. “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him” 1 Samuel 1:27
“I pray for every couple almost giving up. Look at us and see what the Lord has done. Friends and family I tell you; there’s a distinct difference, anybody can be a father but it takes a special man to be a DAD. This man right here @agundabweni is a gift from God to me,” read part of her post.
The Tunakuabudu hitmaker went on to encourage her fans still waiting for the blessing of a child to hold on to God’s promises as He will eventually come through for them.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this but I was hungry enough to wait for that promise to be manifested in my life. You don’t get what you pray for, you get what you’ve waited for and “Because those who wait upon the Lord are like Mt Zion they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” While we were waiting we kept on singing Praises to Him, we kept on encouraging others yet we were also asking God questions. “Where are you? Until when, how many more doctors shall we see?”
“Then I would hear a voice saying… Get encouraged. The measure of your Temptation is equal to the measure of your Blessings. So fight your battle delightfully for after every test there is a testimony and after every victory there is a prize,” she added.
Opening up on her frustrations in a previous interview Evelyne admitted that she felt terrible every time anyone asked her why she and her husband still didn’t have a child despite being married for so long.
“People don’t know my struggle. People don’t know how many times I have tried to have a baby. It hurt me. But my husband told me, ‘Why should other people stress you and I haven’t stressed you? Let’s wait upon God as He is the one that gives children.’ We are waiting on God’s time, I know it has been 7 years but we know God will do something,” narrated Wanjiru.
The melodious singer revealed that her inability to get pregnant was due to a hormonal imbalance.
“We are in the process, we are under medication especially me. It’s due to hormonal imbalances which is very common, I think it’s because of the diet we are consuming especially in this era that we are in. Don’t give up hope and consult a doctor to find out what the problem is and also pray hard. What has kept me going is that God fulfills his promises, when he promises he will fulfill. I believe my day will come.”
