More families to be compensated by KWS in Taita

Families of ten out of the 23 people killed by wild animals in Taita Taveta County have benefited from the compensation offered to them after a period of three years.

According to Taita Taveta County Compensation board chairperson Johnnes  Mlamba, victims of snake bites have never been compensated as there has never been any county law that protects such victims.

In a press conference held in Mwatate, Mlamba said the board has spent over Kshs 35 million to compensate families that were affected by the invading of elephants in their homesteads; families that he said had never received any compensation for a period of three years following the destruction of their crops by the wild animals.
