MEET ELIMU GIRLS; THE BRAIN BEHIND AFRICAN DOLLS

On Empowerment this month we hosted Elimu Girls on Teens Connect (the morning show hosted by J-Janet Kilalo-the station manager).

Elimu Girls are a 2-year sewing program that transforms rural teens in Kenya to have a voice, choice, and a bank account. They disrupts a cultural system of child bride, female genital mutilation, and polygamy practices.

Their non-profit combines activism with a direct line of action so she will be one of the first female entrepreneurs in her village breaking the chain of oppression.

On this interview the girls had a chance empower and impact fellow lasses on how to make rag dolls dubbed African dolls.

They talked about skills development for the young ones at home and the experience of making the rag dolls, how they acquired the skills and how the skills have impacted their lives.
