Kenyatta drums-up support for Muturi and Lusaka

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto has urged members of Parliament under the Jubilee Coalition to support Justine Muturi and former Bungoma Governor Ken  Lusaka for Speaker’s post in the national parliament and senate respectively.

Speaking during a Jubilee party parliamentary meeting at the state house, Mr President said the two are the party’s favorite in passing constructive bills and therefore should plinth them during their first sitting.

As the head of state was meeting with his legislatures, incumbent senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro was by then at the parliament asking members of the parliament to support his re-election bid during the swearing in and orientation period.

Early this week, the Clerk to the senate Jeremiah Nyegenye said seven candidates have shown interest for the race of the Speaker’s Position on Thursday when all 67 senators will be sworn in.
