Hamisi Kombe alias Shupavu, is a news presenter at Lulu fm.
When you talk of ‘dreams being valid’ you are definitely talking about me, because I’m part of the story.
Back in primary school days at Mnarani Primary school -Kilifi, I desired and dreamt to be a media personality for purposes of becoming famous or a ‘celebrity ‘ for that matter. Anyway that was just but a primary thinking motive. My former classmates proudly say, ‘We knew he’d become a journalist’.
Whenever I introduce myself and mention the part that I’m a media personality, it really strikes deep in me that, dreams come true, through determination, consistence and persistence.
I’m passionate about media and its effectiveness to the world. I fancy much about solution based journalism where journalism becomes a tool to channel solutions to the society.
I have faith in Jesus. I accepted Christ Jesus in 2006 after converting from Islam. I was raised in an Islamic background, but when Jesus chooses & picks you up for his glory, its inevitable. I don’t shy off from proclaiming Jesus as my personal savior, a friend and a father to me. He will never leave me nor forsake me. I challenge you to try & taste Him, David did, and he knew that Jesus is good.
Shupavu is a swahili interpretition of the word ‘Strong’. God gave me the name ‘Shupavu’ as a command, Joshua 1:9 ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go’.
Apart from journalism. I love reading the bible, of cause a man shall not live by bread alone but from every word that cometh from God’s mouth,I frequently interact with God, I love reading inspirational contexts. A football fan, supporting Gor Mahia, Harambee stars and Manchester united.
I’m always governed by a phrase, ‘You are only successful when your name appears in someone else story of success ‘thus where the opportunity to offer help knocks, you’d find me there.
I am poetry and poetry is me. A spoken word artist, I write & perform both Swahili and English poems as a talent and a God-given gift. I also do creative script writing and capable of being a voice over artist. I always enjoy good live music.
Favorite meal; chapati. You’ve not served me food, when chapati does not appear in any of the serving pots. A chapati lover who can’t cook chapati.
